All the images in this section of the Gallery have been taken around Ireland's coastline. The sea in Ireland presents many challenges for an underwater photographer due to the restrictions posed by the variable weather condiitons. Visibility underwater can often be reduced to 1 or 2m during the colder months and it can be difficult to access the more spectacular sites offshore. However, patience and dedication are usually rewarded and calm seas can provide opportunities for some of the most breathtaking diving that the globe has to offer. Visibility in September can sometimes be in excess of 30m! Capturing these moments can be a real thrill for any biologist or nature lover.
