Marine Dimensions was founded in 2004 as an independent knowledge based enterprise providing advice and support to government agencies, non governmental organisations and firms that have an interest in the aquatic and marine environment. The promoter and director of the organisation, Dr. Sarah Varian, is particularly concerned with innovative and creative approaches to enhancing knowledge, awareness and sustainability in the marine and coastal environment.

Mission statement

To enhance understanding and appreciation of marine biodiversity through community based participation, education and research.

Key Aims

To enhance and communicate awareness of Ireland's marine heritage and biodiversity using creative techniques.

To increase our understanding and knowledge of the marine environment, at a national and international level.

To pursue innovative approaches for sustainable management of marine resources in Ireland and overseas.

To apply the ecosystem approach to management of marine resources.
